Wayne Grudem endorses Mitt Romney October 20, 2007

As an evangelical professor of Bible and theology, I have decided to support Mitt Romney for President (even though he is a Mormon) for two old-fashioned reasons: First, he is the best-qualified candidate, and second, he holds moral and political values consistent with those in the Bible.
Oh my goodness, and Mike Huckabee is not? Grudem has got to be kidding! Huckabee is principled driven - Romney is not. This has nothing to do with the fact that he is LDS - the issue is his consistent conservative background. Huckabee is clear, articulate, and continues to draw praise from even the most liberal of the media. I have seen him talk with Jon Stewart and Bill Maher and he shocks them as the anti-type to to the stereo-type. Mike is going to come in second or third at the Iowa Caucasus in Jan and maybe, just maybe #1 in New Hampshire. Most people are not supportive because they feel he is “unelectable” because he doesn’t have that superstar name. Huckabee is far more credible than Thompson whom everyone thought was going to ride in like Gandalf and save the day. What a profound disappointment - but what can we expect from a nominal actor? Huckabee served two terms as governor and delivered that state out of bondage - he can bring the same measured and principled leadership to the White House. Come on Wayne - “I Like Mike!”
This is not going to be an easy choice any way you look at it. I have a hard it not voting for a person of faith, a true believer. Yes, we are not voting for a pastor, but a President, and no one is prefect.Yet, I also feel that as important of a job of The President of The United States of American, that I really want to know that the President is praying to and looking for guideness from the True God.
If the Republican nominee is not Pro-life and not Pro-marriage, I will not be voting for them, no questions. I know it was bad if the Decomcrats won and the problems they would bring for 4 years, but better 4 years lost then to encourage the wrong direction of the Republican Party. The Republican Party has had power for soem time here and have not done many of the things they promise us conservative, Christian supports (more could and should have been done in the areas of pro-life, anit-porn, pro-family, parental rights, protection of religous express for Christian who are being push from the public square in many places).
I also feel that this nation would most liekly be better off if it had a stronger 3rd and even 4th parties in the process. The current Republican and Democrat parties seem that they have many of the same corporate supporters and they both get about the same amount of stuff done, which ends up being more and more “pork”. A 3rd and 4th party would, in my opinion, take some of the abusing power away from these two main parties and maybe make them have to work with other groups more then just themselves.
I hope people don’t feel that voting their conscience is a waste. I don’t feel it would be a waste if policticans saw that “we the people” are willing to vote for our morals, ethics and beliefs, and not just for the party we might be use to voting for. The politicans would know they couldn’t take our votes for granted.
There is a lot to weigh when we have to make that final desision in November of 2008. We should all be in prayer between now and then that God would lead us to His will and that no matter who is elected the next President of The U.S.A, that His Will be done and that He would be Glorified in the end.
Romney is a wolf in sheeps clothing and the Christian Right seems to be falling for it hook, line, and sinker. None of the leading candidates on the right look appealing, in some sense I almost hope that a Dem wins the election so the conservatives in the Congress will act like conservatives and not just go with the party line on every bill and law since this administration took office 7 years ago.
