I read some of your bio and withj the education you have the amount of time you have in bible study,I cannot see why you can say with all honesty that tongues is not for the church today.
When you quoted most of the scriptures yet could not see the real truth in them.
Paul ,one the greatest ministers in the bible out side of Christ,has said that he spoke with tongues more than any of them and he said “Forbid not to speak with tongues.”
I will agree that tongues speaking people have missed out on the real purpose of tongues ,but that does not aliveate the need needof speaking in tongues.
I believe that we must preach the whole bible rightly divided.
The reason there is so much contraversy in the tongues movement is that these people profess more of the power of God and live Holy lives and that is what satan does not like.
I speak with tongues , not at will but at God’s will and for His purpose.
I do not believ that one has a need of learning to speak with tongues as it is a Spirit thing.
The gifts of the Spirit is not about man and what he wants they are for the edifying of the body of Christ.
God help us to use them in the work of the kingdom.

1 Corin. 14:22: Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy, however, is for believers, not for unbelievers. Not to sure what that had to do with John MacArthur. You guys hit the nail on the head. Never be afraid to stand up for the truth. I love these moments. You two did a great job of the job of Love. As Paul Washer says: Only your true friends will tell you the truth. Thanks friends and brother. Don’t stop.
Has it not occured to any of you that there is the tongues that are to be intrepreted as given in Corinthians and the tongues that are a private prayer language that Paul also speaks of and Jude says we are to do in order to build ourselves up in our most holy faith??
Why must you, if you do not speak in tongues, get all bent out of shape over we who do? If you do not want to, then don’t. But, honestly I am not sure you should quote MacArthur since I have not seen a recanting of his position that those millions of us who speak in tongues are of the devil. There might also be the point that if we are correct and it is of God and is the baptism of the Holy Ghost that Jesus and John referred to, you are in SERIOUS danger of blaspheming the Holy Ghost.
You speak of things you have no experience with and you strain at a gnat and swallow a camel.
