That was pretty funny. Later in the show however the following exchange took place.
Letterman: 4,000 American men and women soldiers dead since we went into Iraq. Another 30,000 wounded. Untold Iraqis dead. We rarely hear that number. What would that number be? A quarter of a million? Half a million?
Interpreting a Sigh…Pixelmaster? What was contained in the sigh?…Grab your bibles we are mailing out knee pads…or let’s get Christian theocracy on the ballot immediately???
The “sigh” is that the neocons in Washington still have the ability to promote preemptive war, even after 5 years of the horror in Iraq. I say horror because I personally know people who have family over there, or used to until they had to flee and become refugees.
I think with McCain and possibly Hilary or Obama the idea of a theocracy will not be happening in the short term. I think that is a good thing. It may not make Dobson, Perkins, Robertson, et al, happy but it does me. That said, there is not much else to get excited about in the 3. Out of the less than pleasing candidates, Obama seems the best.
With McCain you will need a lot of prayer Nancy. He has admitted that he doesn’t know much about the economy, he has broke his own law on campaign finance reform, he said staying in Iraq for another 100 years is not a bad idea, he is all for more preemptive war against Iran, and has stated over and over that Al Quada is Shiite(complete ignorance), he has flip flopped his stance on war stating that Somolia in 1993 was an aweful thing and that we needed to retract immedidately, but somehow Iraq, we need to stay. (RE: Last comment, I know circumstances are slightly different but the argument is still the same)
I love the internet age, these guys can’t run and hide.
So yes, Nancy, flip that switch for McCain and start praying because it will be more of the same as the past 8 years only with a slightly liberal twist if Johnny Mac is our Prez.
Whoo hoo for technology and the w.w.w. Just think if it wasn’t for Mr. Al Gore and his invention…he did invent the internet? right?…we would still be voting in the dark. *; )The truth is, we ALL better be praying for guidance before we flip that switch in any direction. I like to think of myself as a Republican (surprise), but I still ask for and wait for prompting each time I enter the voting booth…sometimes, all the information and reason in the world just aren’t enough.
I don’t think of myself as a Rep or Dem, maybe left of center. When I decide who to vote for I look at all the issues, I don’t let one or two trump the others. For example, I hate abortion, I wish it were never a law, However, as we saw when the family values folks owned the white house and both branches of congress from 2002 - 2006 they hardly did anything about the issue. Why? because it is a wedge issue, they know that social conservative(read evangelicals) will for for them so long as they claim pro life and the issue is still out there. The one thing they have been successful in is making the rich very rich. By deregulating everything it has created a large gap between the rich and poor. So I don’t let one or 2 social issues determine my vote, I look at everything, Social, Financial, Evironmental etc. I also don’t listen to scare tactics, like I hear many christians equating obama with the anti-christ.
BTW, the Al Gore internet thing, you do know that he never said that, right? Al Gore worked on a Bill that made the internet accessible to the public, it was something that the miltary used for years and he helped pass a law to make it public. That story is a prime example of the right(Rush & Friends) taking something so far out of context that it makes them look rediculous
BTW2, I heard that on April 15th Alan Keyes will announce that he is leaving the Republican Party for the Constitution Party. Just some food for thought for those who feel they have to vote for the lesser of two evils.
Hmmm, I guess you just can’t believe anything anymore…I thought I got that info off the internet(the Al Gore bit)…and I certainly don’t want to be acussed of “scar tactics”, but…I hear you can quite easily purchase video equipment along with editing software (both video and audio) to use right at home on your very own computer…and then those YouTube guys aiding and abetting…well whats that all about…must really be some kind of conspiracy…how DO we know what is REAL!
Nancy, Let’s not go overboard, all it takes is a little research. my thing is that I don’t drink the kool-aid of any person or side, right left. IE “I trust foxnews because it seems to align with my values”. I try to investigate all sides and come up with a conclusion. Another example of the Al Gore issue is Obama’s wife comments about not being proud of America. She never said those exact words. She said it was the first time in her life that we was “really” proud. Yet sites like drudge, posted a video in which the word “really” was blipped out. Take the word really out and it sounds much worse. If I drank the right wing koolaid I would be furious at her, however, I looked into it and found out the right wingers are uninforming people of the story. That is not to say that all of them are wrong in their intentions, those who spread this story, I just think most think - Left = bad, evil and liars. and right = good, righteous and truth. Nothing could be further from the truth. If you maintain that mindset without considering that the other side may be telling the truth then you set yourself up for believing something that is not true. Thus Al Gore invented the internet, as if he was in his office programming code, no, he assisted with a bill that made it in the public domain. That is factual, smear campaigns happen on the right and left, we just need to be wise as serpant to what is truth and what isn’t.
Totally agree *: ), (but not about Keyes), However, that is what makes this America, we get to choose, hopefully using both our brains and the prompting of the Holy Spirit in our hearts. What a WONDERFUL COUNSELOR we have been given.

McCain: It’s hard to make these estimates, but it’s in the hundreds of thousands, obviously.

And he thinks it is wise to attack Iran. Sigh…..
Paul,
Thanks for the chuckle.

O snap!
Hmm, seems like a desperate situation…I go for McCain and the knee pads.

Here is the video if you want to look into it:
http://www.breitbart.tv/html/49244.html *really* is blipped out about 19 seconds into it.
Colin, I agree, Keyes looks like he could be a viable option to McCain. What say you Mr. Edwards? Are you ready to look into the Constitution Party?
Totally agree *: ), (but not about Keyes), However, that is what makes this America, we get to choose, hopefully using both our brains and the prompting of the Holy Spirit in our hearts. What a WONDERFUL COUNSELOR we have been given.
